Woodfin Memories

by Jennifer Woodfin Taylor
(as presented at Stephanie's Memorial,

Chris & Jennifer Taylor

Stephanie,

So, where to begin.  What do I talk about in only a few minutes?  There is so much to say and never enough time.  Memories are God’s gift so we can relive happy times…something you gave us all so many of.

So, the Woodfin family would like to share some of the silly, giggly little things we shared over 18 wonderful years we knew you.

We remember, a new family moving in…

Punky Brewster ponytails, Bear cereal, mixing as many flavors of yogurt as we possibly could, fishing for sailors choice…and only getting fish sticks

Jamie, being so politically correct, (as she always is), saying “Can I go over and play with the Little Chinese girl across the street?”  (That was Stephanie!)

Who could forget the my little ponies, playing at the park, Ssh! Stephanie “Hurry, it’s your parents…go to bed!!!

Fashion shows and bike rides. Mint chocolate chip ice cream, chicken fingers at the tennis courts, Dressing up the cats, and oh yes, my little ponies.

Marko Polo and cannonballs in the pool, playing school, picnics in the park, Swinging and climbing in the trees at the park, hide and seek in the park, “Oh no Stephanie, it’s dark, is it dinner time already?”

Tennis, racquetball, sailboat rides…Marineland camping And charging up the food bill at the tennis courts for our parents to pay later.

You were there when my now husband took his first vacation with my family. Uncle Wyc didn’t want him to go, but you know how us girls can convince our daddys! Mill Ridge is where we saw snow for the first time, went skiing for the first time, Made snow angels in the snow for the first time.

All of these firsts for me and my family, we got to experience with you. We wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!!!

We saw your poise in the Nutcracker.  You were at both my and Jamie’s graduation, we were at yours.  When you became Miss Flagler Palm Coast, we were so proud and then had a giggle when we couldn’t figure out how to get the humongous trophy into your daddy’s car!!!!!

You had such a sense of style…all your own. There were the colored contacts—which made your brown eyes blue, There were the haircuts and colors that only your beauty could pull off so perfectly. Your hands made beaded jewelry we so deeply treasure. Yes, you had a style all your own.

We remember:

Big smiles and warm hugs, Your love for your mom and dad, your cousins, your aunts and uncles, your grandparents, family and friends….

As Steph’s first babysitter, I had the best job in the world.
As Steph’s friends, Jamie and I always felt more like cousins to you.
We were touched by your spirit and strength that will never leave our hearts.
You have left all us with a very special gift that we can open at any time…beautiful wonderful memories…all we have to do is open our hearts.

Stephanie, you always loved and wanted the stars and the moon.  Now you sit amongst them, touching them, bringing more joy and happiness to them.

Stephanie, when you have a second, please give Grandma Elvidge, Meme and Pepe a great big hug from us.

Terry and Val:

Thank you for allowing me and my family into your family and making us a part of your precious daughter’s life.  We’ve always felt like family and not just friends.

And finally, Stephanie I remember:

Being so excited as your babysitter when you finally gave up playing my little ponies and sold them all in a garage sale.  It was over, once and for all!

… I would give just about anything to play ponies with you once again!!!

 We Love you Steph!
